The Hummingbird
One of a kind art fly
Possibly the most difficult fly I have ever tied. Tied with over 300 individual feathers from 7 different species of bird. One of only 2 flies to ever be made, this specimen is as beautiful as it is unique. There is only one of these for sale and there will not be another. Hence the high price. This fly will be presented in a custom display with certificate of provenance.

Price £800 with display

The Tying process for this fly consisted of sourcing small iridescent feathers suitable for the shimmering appearance of hummingbird species.
This particular Hummingbird representation is generic and representative only but is loosely based on the Ruby Throated Hummingbird.

All feathers used are sourced from birds commonly used in fly tying and all feathers are tied in with thread. Glue was used on this pattern only for attaching the eyes.
In all this pattern took over 70 hours to tie and that doesn't include the time taken in design and making mistakes.
It was definitely one of my more challenging ties but I feel it was worth the effort.
